Key Scripture:  “For the weapons of our warfare are not carnal but mighty in God for pulling down strongholds, casting down arguments and every high thing that exalts itself against the knowledge of God, bringing every thought into captivity to the obedience of Christ.” – 2 Corinthians 10:4-5

Purpose: This tool assists in demolishing the strongholds of lies that have been built over the years while allowing you to build strongholds of truth in your life.

Phase of Discipling Best to Introduce: D1

Discipling Tips:

  • James 2 talks about how faith without action is dead.  Therefore, as you walk out an observed scripture towards your freedom here is a tool to utilize to get the truth deeper inside of your soul.  It will help you destroy/demolish the stronghold of lies and help you build a stronghold of truth by taking every thought captive.

  • A word from Christine Miller (developer of the Truth Trainer): I can tell you that when I began this process to rid myself of consistent and debilitating depression as a young mother, within two weeks of following this process, I was full of joy – the felt emotion of joy, mind you – and completely cured of depression. From that day to this, the spirit of depression rarely shows its ugly face, and if it does – perhaps once per year – I know exactly how to take authority over it and send it packing. Today, three decades later, people who know me in real life describe me as joyful as a defining characteristic.

  • The personalization step is similar to writing your own amplified version of the verse but it is also adding your name in for some of the pronouns, etc.

Tool Specifics:

  1. Some ideas on what scriptures to do the Truth Trainer Study with:

  • Take the scripture from your S.O.A.P.

  • Use a verse that the Lord is speaking to you strongly about.

  • If you have identified a lie/stronghold in your life then take 3-6 scriptures that combat that lie with truth directly and spend 3-6 weeks training in the truth using 1 scripture a week.

  1. Day 1 - 3 → slowly eat the scripture using the Eat the Word tool or look up definitions of words if you don’t know how to Eat the Word.

  2. Day 4 → personalize the Scripture by rewriting it with what you learned while eating it.

  3. Day 5 → answer this question in your journal, honestly: If I were to believe this passage is true as part of my life; how would this make me think, behave and feel?

  4. In the second week, repeat this process with another scripture. And repeat.

Tool Example:

Below is a Truth Trainer Study of Ephesians 2:10 by Gretchen Cannon in March 2024

Truth Trainer Day 1-3 - Eat the Word

For we are His workmanship, created in Christ Jesus for good works, which God prepared beforehand so that we would walk in them. - Ephesians 2:10

His - my Father

We - Gretchen and other believers

Them - good works

C&E (Cause and Effect) - Because I was created in JC for good works that God prepared long ago then I can walk in them

Workmanship = (N) that which has been made

Created = (V) in intimate fellowship with Christ constituted to do good works, form, shape, always of God, which applies only to God who alone can make what was "not there before"

Good = (Adj) intrinsically good, good in nature, good whether it be seen to be so or not, describes what originates from God and is empowered by Him in their life through faith. excelling in any respect, distinguished

Works = (N) an act, deed, thing done, is a deed (action) that carries out (completes) an inner desire (intension, purpose)

Prepared beforehand = (V) to prepare beforehand in mind and purpose, i. e. to decree, to prepare before, to make ready beforehand

Walk = (V) I conduct my life, live, full circle

Gretchen,

You are My workmanship! You are made by Me, not made of yourself or of anyone that I have allowed to be a part of your life. No one else has shaped you, but Me. No one has had access to your life without My allowing it. I alone am the one who is responsible for the making and the shaping of Gretchen Rachelle as you allow Me to be active in your life! You were created through intimate fellowship with My first son, Jesus, to carry out the inner desires I put within you to live your life full circle with Me and in Me!

Love Your Father

Truth Trainer Day 4 - Personalization

For we are His workmanship, created in Christ Jesus for good works, which God prepared beforehand so that we would walk in them. - Ephesians 2:10

My Personalization of Ephesians 2:10

For I, Gretchen, am my Father God’s workmanship. I have been formed and shaped by God. Our Father God alone is the only one Who can make what was not there before into someone that can do good works through an intimate fellowship with Jesus. These good in nature things that I carry out are good whether they are seen to be or not by myself or others. These actions that complete an inner desire within me that can only originate from God are empowered by Him in my life through faith. They will excel in every respect and will be distinguished as coming from God. These intrinsically good works were prepared in mind and purpose by God for me to conduct my life and live full circle as my reality.

Truth Trainer Day 5 - Questions

  • If I were to believe this passage is true as part of my life, how would this make me think, behave, and feel?

If Ephesians 2:10 “For we are His workmanship, created in Christ Jesus for good works, which God prepared beforehand so that we would walk in them” were true as part of my life I would have the mindset of continual peace. Thoughts of torment concerning others would not only be immediately silenced but they would be ignored and eventually fade away because they would not be an effective tool for the enemy in my mind. I would feel overwhelming value about my intrinsic worth. I would line up in that value with my behavior participating continually with the good works of the Spirit in character, nature and actions. Obedience would be a byproduct of the belief of my value and significance.
